Mohamed Kenawi

I obtained my BA degree from Alexandria University, Egypt, Masters degree from Bologna University, and PhD from Siena University, Italy. I specialized in excavation and survey methodology. I taught at the American University in Cairo, as adjunct faculty, and at Alexandria University (Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies, Bibliotheca Alexandrina), and Catania University. I collaborate on different projects with Padua University, Tübingen University, CUNY, New York, and Siena University.

My main research interests are:

  • The archaeology of the Egyptian Delta and Fayoum
  • Living archaeology in Egypt: interaction between past and present
  • The economy of the Roman Empire: the Egyptian case
  • Transformation of sacred spaces
  • Survey and documentation of archaeological sites
