SXNCH: Sites at the Intersection of Natural and Cultural Heritage recap

22 February 2021

Sites at the intersection of natural and cultural heritage pose many challenges for conservation, management and understanding. For our most recent virtual heritage conservation event, Katrin Wilhelm and Martin Michette, from the University's OxRBL research group, gave an insightful overview of a recent two day international workshop they convened at this intersection. The SXNCH workshop was organised with two Fraunhofer Institutes and culminated in a Wikipedia edit-a-thon. It brought together 50 participants largely from Europe and the Middle East, with a focus on the mixed heritage site of Petra in Jordan.  The participants of the Conversation engaged actively in the Q&A session, especially in discussing the topic of how the workshop bridged cultural differences among its participants.
