I’m a DPhil in Economic History working on ancient Southeast Asia.
Prior to teaching at Oriel College, I ran classes on Chinese economic history and Internationalisation of Economic Growth since 1850 at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I am also a special lecturer for the Southeast Asian Studies Program, Chulalongkorn University.
I am interested in very long run Asian economic growth, particularly the pre-modern period. My current research projects cover urbanisation in mainland Southeast Asia, kinship and intra-household transfer behaviours between East and Southeast Asia, and location impacts of heritage sites in economic development.
