Dr Jack J Matthews

My research focuses on challenges around the conservation of geological heritage, and providing the scientific underpinning for the formation of new management and policy decisions. Building on 3 years of work informing the conservation and development of both the Mistaken Point UNESCO World Heritage Site and Discovery UNESCO Global Geopark in Newfoundland, I am currently working with the Charnwood Forest Regional Partnership to improve geoconservation outcomes in Leicestershire.

Jack is involved with the following projects:

  • Scientific Research to Inform the Conservation of Geoheritage
  • Using Geoheritage for Sustainable Economic Development
  • Protecting Heritage on Celestial Bodies
  • Legislative Frameworks for Geoconservation
