OUHN Summer Event 2020 - Loss of home and heritage: How should we respond?

Around the world, people’s homes and heritage (tangible and intangible) are being lost through natural and human disasters. As researchers and heritage professionals based in Oxford how can we best respond?

This event showcases a recent video project by Dr Ammar Azzouz, Honorary Research Associate in the School of Geography and the Environment and Analyst at Arup, entitled ‘Domicide’. This project examines the impact of war on cities throughout history across different regions as Spain, Poland, Bosnia and Syria. After Ammar has introduced the project and shown a clip of the video, we will have two short presentations on the roles of digital reconstruction/ engagement (Dr Lia Costiner, Encoding Heritage Network - https://www.torch.ox.ac.uk/encoding-heritage) and structural health imaging (Dr Sinan Acikgoz, Department of Engineering Science) in helping heritage in hazardous environments, followed by a question and answer session with the audience.
